Algeria’s Baghdad Bounedjah celebrates after scoring the winning goal against Qatar in the international friendly at the Khalifa International stadium yesterday. It was a minor setback for Qatar in their preparation for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, which will be held in the UAE next month.  Qatar had enjoyed an undefeated streak since their win over Switzerland in November which was put to a halt by a goal in the 57th minute from Bounedjah. Felix Sanchez’s men had beaten Jordan and Kyrgyzstan in two friendlies before they lost to Algeria.   Qatar will play one more friendly with Iran on New Year's Eve before heading to the UAE, where they open their Asian Cup campaign against Lebanon at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium on January 9. They will also play DPR Korea and Saudi Arabia on January 13 and 17 respectively.
