Armed forces send 24 armoured vehicles to Mali
The air transport wing of the Amiri Air Force yesterday transported 24 military armoured personnel carriers on board three C-17 military aircraft to the Republic of Mali. This mission is part of efforts by Qatar, represented by the Qatar Armed Forces, to contribute to supporting the peace process and laying the foundations for stability in Mali. Such efforts will also contribute to strengthening international efforts to combat terrorism and establish security not only in Mali but also in the Sahel countries known as the G5. The G5 of Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, Chad and Mauritania last year created a military taskforce to root out militant violence. The airlift operations were overseen by a number of senior officers of the Qatar Armed Forces.
