Katara – the Cultural Village will launch the third edition of Mahaseel Festival on December 31, aimed at supporting and promoting agriculture and livestock sector in Qatar, it was announced.
Around 22 local farms, flowers nursery and six other national companies, which specialise in producing and selling sheep meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products and natural juices, are participating at the Mahaseel’s souq which runs until January 5.
After January 5, Mahaseel will continue every Thursday to Saturday until March 31, 2019 at Katara's southern area.
The market features Qatari farms selling various types of fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers and ornamental plants, and local companies offering food products related to livestock, in addition to natural honey produced by the Qatari farms and the best varieties of local dates.
The festival also offers several entertainment and awareness activities for children and adults to enhance the experience of visitors and educate them on the best practices while shopping.
The activities will include workshops on plantation and flower arrangement, in addition to some essential agricultural knowledge.
Mahaseel serves as a good marketing platform for local farms, which offer reasonable prices for their produce, according to Katara.
