Al Rayyan breezed past Al Sailiya 4-0 in their fourth round clash in the QSL Cup at the Al Arabi Stadium yesterday.
In other matches of the day, Al Khor held Al Sadd to a 2-2 draw, while Al Shahania suffered yet another defeat in the tournament when Al Ahli picked up a 2-0 victory.
Al Rayyan went on a goal-scoring spree against Al Sailiya at the Al Arabi Stadium to register their fourth consecutive win.
In the 32nd minute, feared striker Rodrigo Tabata gave Al Rayyan the lead with a goal on a direct free-kick that sailed above the wall and crashed into the net.
Tabata doubled the lead in the first minute of second half.
Lucca Borges spotted Tabata unmarked on the edge of the Al Sailiya box and slipped in a neat short cross. Tabata surged ahead with the ball and slotted it past keeper Abdraman Mahamat for his side’s second goal.
Mohamed Alawi and Abdulrahman al-Harazi scored the other two goals for Al Rayyan.
A goal in each half powered Al Ahli to a convincing win. It was Al Ahli’s second win in QSL Cup while Al Shahania are yet to register their first victory.
In the 36th minute, Ali Ferydoon easily converted a penalty after he was brought down by Al Shahania keeper Amer al-Amri. Al-Amri dived to his right and Ferydoon drove the ball to the left for his side’s opening goal at the Al Sadd Stadium.
In the dying minutes of the second half, Al Ahli put a 2-0 ring to their performances when U-23 player Mohamed Yasseen charged into the Al Shahaniya box and drove the ball with his left foot.
The ball beat al-Amri before crashing into the net.
Hosts Al Sadd opened the scoring through Hassan Ahmed in the seventh minute in the match against Al Khor.
After receiving a cross from the flank, Ahmed beat two defenders to the ball and then easily deflected it into the net from close range with Al Khor keeper Yousef Hassan Awad in no position to stop the ball.
In the 31st minute, Al Khor equalised off a penalty kick. Ahmed Hassan al-Mohannadi converted from the spot after Al Sadd keeper brought down an Al Khor attacker with a reckless tackle.
Referee Abdulhadi Alasmar al-Ruaile pointed to the spot and al-Mohannadi scored easily.
Al Khor jumped to a 2-1 lead when Salem Khalifa found the net off a penalty in the 38th minute. In the 84th minute, Aladeen Suleiman Younes headed home in spectacular fashion as Al Sadd found the equaliser late in the second half.
