Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray arrived in the Philippines yesterday on board a private plane.
Gray was flown home by a Platinum Skies aircraft of the LCS Group of Companies, which former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson and his daughter Richelle Singson-Michael own and manage respectively.
The plane touched down at the General Aviation Area on Domestic Road in Pasay City shortly before 4pm yesterday.
Dressed in a white suit, the latest pride of the Philippines waved to the crowd composed of media people, airport personnel and other well-wishers. Besides the Singsons, who are said to be the new franchise holder of Miss Universe in the Philippines from the Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc, Miss Universe Organisation staff, Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN and Jessica Soho of GMA Network and their crew were with Gray during her flight home from Bangkok, Thailand. Gray expressed her gratitude to the whole Filipino nation for the support during her quest for the Miss Universe crown, which she took home, three years after Pia Wurtzbach won it in 2015, Margarita Moran in 1973 and Gloria Diaz in 1969.
Before Gray’s arrival, employees at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) expressed disappointment at not seeing the newly-crowned beauty queen since she did not take a commercial flight.
“We’re disappointed because we cannot see her at the terminal when she comes back from the pageant,” an airport employee said.
Even security personnel were also frustrated, saying that only personnel who have access near the hangar could have the opportunity to see the 2018 Miss Universe from Albay.
