The Cabinet on Wednesday reviewed a letter from the Permanent Water Resources Committee (PWRC) about its recommendation on water resources policy and updating and developing Qatar's National Water Resources Strategy.

HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan.

Following the meeting, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa bin Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi announced the decisions.

It was explained that the water resources policy and strategy have been developed on the basis of the pillars and goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy.

The water security policy is based on a number of goals, including protecting, diversifying and improving water resources and establishing new sources in order to ensure the sustainable management of high quality water resources suitable for all sectors of the country for present and future generations.

Qatar's water strategy aims to enhance integrated water resources management to ensure the achievement of its vision for water security in future, supporting the economic and social development plans.

The Cabinet approved a draft law amending some provisions of Law No. 15 of 2010 on the prohibition of housing workers within family residential areas and referred it to the Advisory Council.

The Cabinet approved a draft decree on setting a date for the election of Central Municipal Council's members.

It also approved a draft memorandum of understanding on the conduct of political consultations on issues of common interest between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, and a draft memorandum of co-operation on ICT between the governments of Qatar and Serbia.

The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decision: The recommendations of the Advisory Council in the framework of discussing a draft law on supporting the competitiveness of national products and combating harmful practices in international trade, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's points of view in this regard; the memorandum of HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on the results of the fourth meeting of the GCC Labour Ministers Committee (Kuwait — November 2018).
