Qatar Fuel (Woqod) opened on Wednesday its Hazm Al Markhiya Petrol Station, raising its network of nationwide petrol stations to 81.

The move was part of Woqod’s ongoing expansion plans to be able to serve every area in Qatar, according to chief executive officer Saad Rashid al-Muhannadi.

“We are pleased to open new fixed petrol station in Hazm Al Markhiya. Woqod aspires to expand its petrol station network in the country to meet the rising demand for petroleum products and achieve the goal of providing customers with access to best-in-class products and services at their convenience and comfort.

“Woqod has recently accelerated the process for the construction of new petrol stations to meet the fuel and energy needs of the country. The Woqod team would like to extend its gratitude to all governmental and private entities concerned that contributed to the completion of this project.”

The Hazm Al Markhiya Petrol Station is spread over a 5,000sq m area and has three lanes with nine dispensers that will serve Hazm Al Markhiya and its neighbourhood.

The new petrol station offers round-the-clock services to residents and includes Sidra convenience store, manual car wash, and sale of LPG cylinders, in addition to sale of gasoline and diesel products for light vehicles.

He added that Woqod is currently overseeing the implementation of 16 new petrol stations, most of which are expected to be operational in 2019. He noted that there are six stations in the bidding phase and 26 stations in the design phase.

Al-Muhannadi said, “As part of its strategic expansion plan, Woqod is targeting to achieve of a total of 130 fuel stations by the end of 2020.”
