Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD), the flagship development project by Msheireb Properties (MP), witnessed an array of activities last week in celebration of Qatar National Day.
On December 13, MDD was one of the landmarks that proudly received the Qatar flag as part of the nation-wide relay event for the first time, organised by the Qatar Olympic Committee.
The flag was brought to MDD by a group of cyclists who carried it all the way from Hamad International Airport. The flag entourage was received by MP acting CEO Ali al-Kuwari, along with a big representation of the company’s leadership, employees, hotel operators, and construction workers. Team Msheireb carried the flag through the main landmarks of MDD and handed it over back to more than 300 cyclists at Al Kahraba Street.
MP also organised a special lights show at Barahat Msheireb, the region’s largest covered open-air square. It was first time the square has been lit at night to commemorate such a special occasion. Attended by the company leadership, key stakeholders, employees and their families and friends, the lights show enthralled the audience with its amazing architecture while rays of light danced masterfully on its walls drawing up symbols of Qatar’s culture.
MP also invited young Qatari business owners to participate in the event, giving them a chance to market their products as part of the company’s commitment to support and encourage entrepreneurship. “We are thrilled and proud to have been a part of the official celebrations of the Qatar National Day. MDD, itself, is a year-round celebration of our heritage, culture and identity,” al-Kuwari said.
“The project is a revival of the birthplace of the city of Doha, the spot where our modern society started taking shape. The flag relay and the lights show have been a symbolic contribution and a great way for all of us to take a moment to appreciate the country that has been providing for all of us,” he added.
