The Organising Committee of the Qatar National Day 2018 celebrations has announced that it will hold a Friendship Parade at Aspire Zone tomorrow.
The activity is being held in order to show unity and love for Qatar by expatriate communities, according to a press statement.
Besides the committee, the activity is being organised by the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions and accredited offices.
“The success of the Friendship Parade is a confirmation of what His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani said, that he is proud of Qataris and expatriates from different nationalities and cultures. The Friendship Parade shows unity with the beloved country, State of Qatar,” the statement notes.
The initiative also comes in recognition of the National Day’s vision of promoting loyalty, unity, solidarity and pride in the national identity of Qatar.
The event is being held for the second consecutive year in response to the desire of expatriate communities to show their love, appreciation and loyalty to Qatar and its leadership, as well as the efforts to highlight their positive contributions.
Last year, the Organising Committee held the first Friendship Parade and witnessed the huge participation of communities living in Qatar. This year, the activity will witness greater participation as all communities are keen to take part in its various programmes on this special national occasion, which is dear to the hearts of all Qatari citizens and residents.
“In this context, the Friendship Parade will celebrate the years of construction and prosperity to which all Qataris and residents have contributed,” the statement noted.
The Friendship Parade is scheduled to start at 3pm at Aspire Park tomorrow.
Communities will present their culture and folklore through private stalls at the venue, specially designed for this purpose. They will also present a variety of paintings, reflecting their arts and culture, in an atmosphere that highlights the diversity of cultures and in an affirmation of what Qatar seeks to achieve.
The participating communities will also highlight their positive contributions to the development and progress of Qatar, highlight the strong relations between Qatar and the brotherly and friendly countries and the values of coexistence, tolerance and diversity in the country to ensure human dignity.
The participation of the communities in the parade will also highlight the solidarity between the citizens and residents of Qatar, which is not new to the Qatari society, but is rooted in its social structure.
