Local and international publishers recently participated in 29th Doha International Book Fair. A diverse collection of Malayalam books of eminent writers, including novels, story books, poetry and other books were also available at the fair.
Kendran, a novel in Malayalam, written by Dr Sabu K C was also on display at the fair. “The book has won the attention of Malayalees in Qatar. The feedback on the book from the readers from different walks of life has been very encouraging. Simplicity of the language and style of presentation are aspects recognised by many readers who enjoyed reading Kendran. People other than Malayalees also have shown interest in knowing about this book after reading and listening to the reviews and news reports from the media including radio and newspapers. Some of them, residing in Qatar, even went one step further, asking whether the book was available in English as well,”said Dr Sabu K C.
Published by National Book Stall, Kendran portrays the changes in the lives of the people in the historical and legendary village Thrikkakara in Kanayannur Taluk of Ernakulam district in the Indian State of Kerala, over the years, due to technological innovations, advent of industries, trade and commerce. Kendran won the Kanam Foundation Novel award for the best pravasi novel in 2015. The book is available in the major malls of Qatar.
