Doha Festival City (DHFC) will celebrate Qatar National Day with various family friendly activities and a taste of the country’s rich culture from Thursday.
DHFC will be lit up in national colours, and to enhance the celebratory atmosphere of the mall, a Qatari youth choir will be performing the national anthem along with a variety of classical and popular songs for an elevated cultural experience Friday evening.
The mall will be elegantly decked throughout in National day decorations such as flower walls at the welcome courts, in addition to store window displays and mannequins dressed in Qatari flag colours. The National Day celebrations are to run until December 17, from 10am to 11pm.
There will be a variety of family friendly activities showcasing Qatar’s rich culture including a performance by a traditional Qatari band, and a falconry display at the newly transformed main gate Majlis and at the Clouds Node.
DHFC will also be exhibiting artwork of local Qatari artists, showcasing their beloved homeland.
Children dressed in traditional Qatari clothing will have the opportunity to take pictures in a 360 photo-booth. Children who win the national dress competition will receive gifts, such as QR200 gift vouchers from sponsored retailers, and have their photos posted on Doha Festival City’s social media. There will be free face painting for children incorporating the Qatari flag colours as well.
Robert Hall, general manager of DHFC said, “We are excited to celebrate Qatar National Day with all our shoppers, giving residents and visitors of Doha the opportunity to gain a sense of Qatari culture. It is a day to show solidarity, unity and loyalty to our home Qatar and we look forward to welcoming shoppers to enjoy in all the fun and activities we have planned at Doha Festival City”.
Shoppers are encouraged to arrive early and to make use of the valet service and customer service desks which will offer a variety of giveaways, in addition to Arabic coffee and dates on the day as well as a range of services such as strollers, wristbands for children, maps, and portable chargers to enhance their shopping experience during Qatar National Day.
Qatar National Day is celebrated annually on December 18. This year’s National Day slogan is “As long as it was proven by our deeds, Qatar will remain free”, which combines a poetic verse from the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani and a verse from the Qatari national Anthem. The theme for this year’s Qatar National Day aims to represent Qatar’s core values which include loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride.
