The Security Committee of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) signed a co-operation agreement with the Public Security Police of Portugal on the organisation of major sporting events in preparation for the 2022 World Cup.
The agreement was signed for the Security Committee by Brigadier General Abdulaziz bin Faisal al-Thani, the Deputy Commander of the Lekhwiya Force and Deputy Chairman of the SC’s Security Committee, and for the Portuguese side by Luis Manuel Farinha, the head of the Public Security Police at the Lekhwiya Force building.
On the occasion, Farinha said he was delighted to sign this agreement with the Security Committee, adding it strengthens relations and partnership between the police services of the two friendly countries in order to prepare for the World Cup.
He said that Portugal will spare no effort in providing all forms of support to Qatar national police and share their expertise in conducing sports events.
Major Fahad Saeed al-Subaie, Director of the Training Department at the Police College and Head of the Training Unit of the Security Committee of the SC, said the agreement will ensure high level of training to officers.
He added that the officials from Qatar visited Portugal recently to get a first-hand experience of the progress made by Portugal police and was confident the partnership will help the Security Committee to organise the World Cup and raise the efficiency and qualification of officers in the management of major sports events.
