Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) Faleh Mohamed al-Nuaimi stated that National Day is an important occasion to sow love and loyalty, and share these feelings with younger generations as well as to remember the efforts of the ancestors who established the state and to move forward in promoting such feelings and translating them on the ground. 
He said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), that Qatar’s progress and the unity between the people and leadership led to the development of the country in a record time compared to other countries, adding that Qatar has become an example of successful economic and social welfare, which is based on pillars inherited through generations. 
He pointed out that the efforts of the leadership and the people are united until the state becomes dependent on its human and economic capabilities within a clear vision supported by the solidarity of Qataris and residents.It is through these efforts that “we were able to turn the siege from the curse into a blessing thanks to God Almighty,” the Chairman of Qatar Post added.
Al-Nuaimi praised the remarkable growth achieved by the country’s economy, thanks to the steadfastness and efforts of everyone, and expressed his eagerness to achieve self-reliance in all political, economic and social aspects. 
He called on everyone to work intensively for Qatar’s glory, focus on installing noble values among the younger generation and prepare the Qatari individual to build the nation through education, production and self-reliance in every walk of life. 
He emphasised the importance of valuing work and time, and striving to accomplish our development projects professionally and responsibly in order to promote sustainable development and achieve our current and future goals. The Chairman said that Qatar Post made a number of accomplishment, most notably achieving 100% of the standard mail delivery time in the last quarter of 2017. Furthermore, Qatar Post achieved 95.1% of the distribution time in the first and the second quarters of 2018, surpassing the 80% target set by the Universal Postal Union.
In February 2017, Qatar Post launched a new service under the name of Digital Mailroom Solutions, which is a sophisticated electronic service that reduces costs and relies on the Internet and the automation system to track the delivery of mail in companies and to customers. Qatar Post also developed the use of information technology and modern tracking systems. It also implemented EPOSS programme, which checks automatic transactions, provides reports on sales, co-ordinates inventory data and performs many other services through branch staff. 
Qatar Post signed contracts with leading IT companies to develop the company’s technological infrastructures, which contribute to enhancing the operational capabilities and services provided. 
Qatar Post also started implementing RFID technology, which allows for better tracking and achieving goals and quality of service. Additionally, the company launched a home delivery service across Qatar that is available to any customer who has a subscription to a personal mailbox. The mail can be delivered one, three or six times a week based on customer’s choice. 
Furthermore, Qatar Post launched other services including international service, which allows the delivery of letters and parcels to more than 220 countries. It is the fastest delivery option by the Qatar Post. It also launched its new brand, implemented a new retail model across its branches. 
One of the key projects that Qatar Post seeks to implement in the future is to enable credit card payments through mobile devices, introduce self-service unites in branches through retail network, complete upgrading finance and procurement systems, implement new automated sorting system, achieve integration with customs systems and expand smart cabinets networks during the last quarter of 2019.
