Qatari LNG transport company Nakilat collaborated with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to organise a ‘Plant a Tree’ initiative with two local schools.
The initiative was aimed at raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection and preservation among the students from an early age, the company said in a statement.
During the event, the students were guided and assisted by volunteers from Nakilat who also took part in the planting
activities.
In addition to “cultivating a green culture, the initiative allowed the students to develop an interest in and appreciation for their natural environment, which goes a long way towards creating a sustainable future”, the statement noted.
Nakilat chief administration officer Rashid al-Marri said, “As a responsible corporate citizen, we recognise the importance in giving back to society and protecting the environment we operate in. We carry out targeted and impactful initiatives year-round by partnering with local institutions to improve the lives of local community and the natural environment, thereby fulfilling our role as a responsible global leader in energy transportation and maritime services.”
