As part of the Qatar National Day celebrations, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), in co-operation with the National Tourism Council, has announced the launch of the first National Day Trade Festival slated from December 15 to 20.
By organising the large, first-of-its-kind festival, the ministry offers shop owners, retail sector professionals, and private sector companies and organisations the opportunity to share with Qatar’s citizens and residents the joy of celebrating National Day through the launch of large and unprecedented discounts.
The private sector companies and organisations participating in the festival include all trade and service sectors such as shopping malls, restaurants, retail outlets, beauty salons, hospitality service providers, hotels, sport clubs, health and beauty centres and institutes, and entertainment centres.
The front windows of participating outlets and companies will bear the National Day Trade Festival logo label that was designed specifically for the event, and will be distributed to participants free of charge.
Mohamed Ahmed al-Ansari, media officer at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said: “This initiative comes within the framework of the ministry’s efforts to organise events that reflect pride in National Day celebrations, and contribute to cementing the values of loyalty and a sense of belonging to our country and its wise leadership.
“The ministry also sought to bolster trade activity across all markets by providing retail outlets with the opportunity to offer outstanding promotions, thus enabling citizens and residents to benefit from great discounts throughout this period.”
Mashal Shahbik of the National Tourism Council said, “We are proud to co-operate with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to launch the National Day Trade Festival, which is intended to celebrate these precious national days for all those who live in the land of Qatar .The National Festival is a strong start to the Qatar Winter Shows, which will be completed with the launch of the Qatar Shopping Festival soon, offering discounts, special offers, and cultural and artistic events that will last for one month.
“We are working with all public and private partners to diversify the local events calendar and entertainment options, as part of our strategy to enhance visitors’ experience and support the hospitality and retail sectors.”
Through the festival, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry aims to support the private sector and boost demand across the retail sector. The festival will stimulate trade across local markets, contribute to the country’s economy, stimulate internal and external tourism, and create an environment conducive to the continued growth of the trade sector.
The first edition of the National Day Trade Festival is expected to bring significant revenues.
Over 14 shopping malls across Qatar, as well as other shops and retail outlets, are participating in the festival.
Companies wishing to participate can register by visiting the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Quality License and Market Control Department, located on the third Floor of the ministry’s headquarters in Lusail.
