His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed unveiled on Friday an Anti-Corruption Monument in Putrajaya Square, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They also honoured the winners of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award in the presence of UN Secretary-General's Representative and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) executive director Yury Fedotov.
The monument, shaped like a hand of steel, symbolises all countries around the world uniting to combat corruption. The geometrical configurations of the monument represent the combined efforts of all nations in stopping corruption. Spaces in the monument represent transparency. 
The ceremonies were attended by former President of Tunisia Dr Mohamed Mouncef al-Marzouki, Malaysia's Foreign Minister Saifuddin bin Abdullah, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov, and a number of members of the Supreme Committee to select the winners and senior officials.
The event was also attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying the Amir, who later left Kuala Lumpur after a working visit to Malaysia.


The Anti-Corruption Monument before unveiling

The Amir and the accompanying delegation were seen off upon departure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport by Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, Qatar's ambassador to Malaysia Fahad bin Mohamed Kafood and members of the Qatar embassy. 
The Amir sent cables to the Malaysian Prime Minister expressing deep thanks and appreciation for the hospitality and honuor accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during the visit, which allowed meetings and the exchange of views on issues of common concern and means of strengthening and promoting the friendly relations and co-operation between the two countries in various fields for the good and the benefit of the two peoples. 
The Amir wished the President and the Prime Minister the best of health and happiness, and the friendly people of Malaysia further progress and prosperity.
