His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday sent cables of congratulations to Finland’s President Sauli Niinisto on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani also sent similar cable Finland’s Prime Minister Juha Petri Sipila.

Suicide attack on Iran

Qatar yesterday condemned a suicide car bomb attack on a police headquarters in Iran’s port city of Chabahar that killed at least two policemen and injured 48 people. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s firm stance in rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of the motives and causes. The statement expressed Qatar’s condolences to the families of victims as well as the government and people of Iran.
