The infrastructure accomplishment in the Lusail City, the first of the Qatari Diar projects, has exceeded 90%, said CEO of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
“The city will continue to serve as an example and a milestone in the history of sustainable cities around the world, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030,” he said at a ceremony organised by the company yesterday to celebrate the inauguration of the Lusail Marina walkway. The Lusail Marina walkway was inaugurated earlier yesterday by HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.
Qatari Diar CEO said that the 38sq km Lusail City has been designed taking into consideration all environmental and cultural sustainability components to accommodate more than 450,000 residents and visitors.
The city also includes the Lusail Stadium, which will host the opening and closing matches of the 2022 World Cup.
He said that Lusail Marina walkway is one of the new landmarks in Lusail and represents a contribution from Qatari Diar to Qatar’s recently launched campaign to make the country a world tourist destination.
The walkway occupies 142,600sq m on the coast of Lusail, with a 4.2km-long sea facade.
It boasts stunning natural landscapes, green spaces and wide corridors that provide an atmosphere throughout the year.
In this area, the Lusail walkway will also support entrepreneurs and investors by providing a variety of investment opportunities, opening up various areas of investment in Lusail City, as well as setting up many events.
The inaugural event, organised by the Lusail walkway, will be the launch of the International Light Festival, which is being organised by Al-Nakheel and Vibrant, a private sector company.
The festival, which starts today and continues until Saturday, December 8, includes a range of technical and optical displays.
The Marina district is located on the south-eastern side of the city of Lusail, which is surrounded by the waters of the Arabian Gulf.
The marina is a gateway to the city with its diverse trees, its 16km-long streets and its excellent layout, which is located on an area of approximately 672,000sq m, giving it a distinctive spirit.– QNA
