The ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition being held in Muscat reflects Qatar and Oman’s desire to strengthen alliances, while the Qatar-Oman Business Forum helped enhance the existing economic partnership of both countries, Qatar Chamber chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani has said.
Sheikh Khalifa said the exhibition, organised by Qatar Chamber for the second time outside the country, has also helped open new horizons between both the countries’ private sector players and stakeholders.
He praised the “great interaction” of Qatari and Omani businessmen during the Qatar-Oman Business Forum, and the high turnout of visitors at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
The joint business forum, Sheikh Khalifa said was held within the framework of the economic partnership between Qatar and Oman and within the continuous co-operation between the respective chambers of commerce of both countries.
“The great attendance of businessmen at the exhibition and the joint business forum held on the sidelines of ‘Made in Qatar’ shows the strong desire of the business sectors of both countries to enhance joint co-operation and bring it to higher levels of co-ordination and joint action, and improve trade and investment exchange between the two brotherly countries,” Sheikh Khalifa said.
According to Sheikh Khalifa, the ‘Made in Qatar’ exhibition has received “great interest” from business sectors in Oman.
“This exhibition represents an important platform for exhibiting Qatari industries and discussing bilateral co-operation in various fields of industry. About 240 companies are representing five industrial sectors: furniture, petrochemicals, small and medium-sized enterprises, food and beverage industries, and home-based businesses,” Sheikh Khalifa explained.
Earlier, Qatar Chamber board member Rashid Nasser al-Kaabi, who is also chairman of the exhibition’s organising committee, said Qatar and Oman share strong economic relations and great private sector co-operation.
He said the volume of trade exchange between the two countries has achieved “successive leaps in a short period” and that Oman has been the leading recipient of Qatari exports this year.
Al-Kaabi said: “Qatari business owners are interested in identifying investment opportunities in the industrial sectors of Oman.”
“The exhibition and its accompanying activities will serve as a platform for business owners from both countries to discuss investment opportunities available in various sectors with a view to establishing alliances and commercial deals between Qatari companies and their Omani counterparts.
“The exhibition provides a valuable opportunity to introduce the Omani business community to the great development witnessed by the Qatari industry and local products, thus opening up greater scope for enhancing trade exchange between Qatari and Omani companies,” he added.
This year’s edition of ‘Made in Qatar’ is being held on a 10,000sq m area inside the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.
