The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the implementation of a temporary closure on part of the service road of Al Shamal Road leading to Al Gharrafa Roundabout (Immigration R/A).
The closure starts on Thursday, from midnight until 5am, and will be carried out over a total of four nights – the other dates being December 7, 8 and 14 — in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
The service road will be completely open to traffic during the day, except on December 7, when two of the three lanes of the service road will be opened to traffic. During this period, traffic will be diverted to Al Luqta Street through Abdul Rahman Bin Awf Street, as shown on the attached map.
Motorists who wish to turn left or make a U-turn at the roundabout are advised to drive through Al Luqta Street and make a U-turn, Ashghal has said in a statement.
The diversion aims to enable asphalt works as part of Phase 1 of an Ashghal project, aiming to convert the Immigration R/A into an intersection and develop parts of service roads on 22 February Road, in order to improve traffic movement and increase the intersection’s capacity.
