Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra and US singer Nick Jonas have tied the knot in a Christian wedding ceremony at a palace in India's northern city of Jodhpur.

The wedding festivities that began on Wednesday were being held at the 26-acre Umaid Bhawan Palace. Priyanka, 36, and Nick, 26, were engaged in August after meeting at an Oscars party last year.

The two exchanged their wedding vows at a ceremony late Saturday that was officiated by the groom's father Pastor Paul Jonas, People and Vogue reported.

The families of Chopra and Jonas, including the bridesmaids and the groomsmen, wore Ralph Lauren couture at the ceremony, which was held on the palace lawn.

Good wishes for the newlyweds poured in on social media and included a congratulatory message from US designer Ralph Lauren.

An elaborate wedding according to Hindu ritual will be held in the palace on Sunday, according to Vogue.

With its majestic 57-metre-high cupola and elegant art deco interiors, the Umaid palace, is among the the last Indian palaces to have been completed 70 years ago.

The colourful wedding extravaganza has been a private affair with only family and friends invited.

Priyanka is winner of the Miss World pageant in 2000 and among the biggest female stars in the Indian film industry. Nick is best-known as one of the Jonas Brothers, a soft-rock band he formed with his brothers in 2005.
