The head of Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate (Diyanet), Professor Ali Erbas, said that Turkey and Qatar are keen to spread the true concept of the Islamic religion in the world.

In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of his visit to Sheikh Abdulla bin Zaid al-Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre yesterday, Erbas said that Turkey and Qatar are working to co-operate in many areas of common interest.

Erbas pointed out that his visit to Qatar aims at exchanging experiences between the Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in several areas of common interest, and that the two sides co-operate in a number of areas of charity, education and humanitarian services. He praised the efforts made by Qatar to teach the correct religious concepts to Muslims in general.

Ebras referred to Qatar's efforts to teach Arabic and said the two sides are seeking more co-operation to serve Al Quds and Al Aqsa Mosque, and in many other charitable projects.
