Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has recently hosted a two-day ‘Young Entrepreneur Exhibition’ at Doha Festival City with the aim to offer growth paradigms to new-age entrepreneurs.
The ‘Young Entrepreneur Exhibition’ follows the successful launch of the Young Entrepreneurs programme, in collaboration with Qatar Scientific Club, aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship and trade to school students who will lead the future and to emphasise and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit in new generations.
The Young Entrepreneurs programme achieved its goal by providing an integrated business environment where the youth were able to innovate and create in a competitive business environment.
The programme consisted of workshops and trainings, which was followed by a competition for the younger generation targeting young entrepreneurs and attracted them to the field to present their ideas and projects. This qualified the winners to have the priority to showcase and sell their products on Matajercom online shop, as well as showcasing their products during the exhibition.
The target audience of the Young Entrepreneur programme included students between the ages 12-15 years (6th grade to 9th grade students) from independent and private schools in the state of Qatar, and the members of the Qatar Scientific Club.
Ibrahim al-Mannai, executive director of Advisory and Incubation at QDB, said: “QDB’s endeavour is in close conjunction with our vision to offer poised platform to our talented youth. Time and again, they have surprised us with their path breaking ideas and this event further accentuated their growth paradigms and offered them a greater avenue to showcase their hidden talent.
“Such events also help in honing the skills of young minds at work and give them an opportunity to network with the experts in the various fields to filter their ideas as per the changing market dynamics.”
He added: “This initiative reflects QDB’s efforts in supporting startups and aspiring entrepreneurs to contribute effectively in the sustainability and diversification of the national economy, which is in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, as well as creating a knowledge-based economy by empowering Qatari entrepreneurs and assist SMEs to overcome the obstacles they face.”
The programme provided an open floor for the youth to showcase their ideas and projects. It supported young entrepreneurs, engaged and attracted them to the entrepreneurial scene in the country.
