An accountability court has granted seven-day transit remand of Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
Earlier, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials produced Shehbaz Sharif before Accountability Judge Syed Najamul Hassan.
The NAB prosecutor submitted that National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had issued orders for Sharif to be produced for the National Assembly session today (November 23).
He requested that the court grant a transit remand of the former Punjab chief minister for the purpose.
He further submitted that Sharif be produced at the concerned court on the expiry of his physical remand on Saturday (November 24).
Sharif has complained that members of his family have not been allowed to see him.
He also complained about lack of medical facilities.
The NAB prosecutor rejected the complaints.
The court granted seven-day transit remand and also directed the NAB authorities to ensure the provision of medical facilities and family meeting.
Strict security arrangements were made inside and outside the court premises on the occasion, in addition to the deployment of anti-riot force.
Sharif has been in custody since October 5 due to his alleged involvement in the Rs14bn Ashiana Housing Scheme scam, while he was chief minister.
