HE Ali bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, on Thursday chaired Qatar’s delegation at the GCC’s Trade Cooperation Committee 56th meeting and the Industrial Cooperation Committee 44th meeting.

The meetings were held in Kuwait with the participation of ministers of commerce and industry from other Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The meeting of the Committee on Trade Cooperation featured discussions on several issues relating to developments and amendments to commercial laws and regulations, including the unified law to combat commercial fraud, and laws regulating trademarks and competition.

Discussions also touched on small and medium enterprises-related entrepreneurial initiatives, the recommendations of the WTO Committee of GCC countries, and the responsibilities of the GCC Patent Office.

The meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee featured discussions on topics relating to the amendment of industrial laws and regulations, including the adoption of the rules of exemption of industry inputs.

The participants also discussed the Anti-Dumping Ministerial Committee’s decision-making mechanisms, and examined the Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting’s reports and activities during 2017.

The committee stressed the importance of the role that Gulf industries play in terms of supporting the economies of GCC countries.
