The Advisory Council and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) signed on Tuesday an agreement on Qatar's organisation of the 140th IPU Ordinary General Assembly and the 204th Session of the IPU Governing Council from 6 to 10 April 2019.

The agreement was signed by HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council, Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud, and IPU's Secretary-General Martin Chungong.

The agreement signing follows the IPU's decision at its session in Geneva last October to hold its next meetings in Doha.

The meeting discussed the Advisory Council's preparations to host the 140th session of the General Assembly of the IPU and the 204th session of the IPU Governing Council, in Doha.

During the meeting, the delegation praised Advisory Council's arraignments to host the conference, stressing its confidence that these arrangements would be completed in the best possible manner.

The meeting was attended by a number of members and staff of the Advisory Council.
