The World Chess Federation (FIDE) on Monday elected President of Qatar Chess Association Mohamed al-Modaihki as Executive Director for International Relations at FIDE, on the sidelines of the World Chess Championships in London.

Al-Modaihki said he looks forward to include chess in the Olympic Games in the future. He said a special file will be prepared to include the game in the 2022 Summer Youth Olympics in Dakar.

Al-Modaihki also announced that he has been appointed appointed as a FIDE representative for the World Mind Sports Games to be held in China in April and for the 2020 World University Championships.
