HE Minister of Public Health of the State of Qatar Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari has been elected as an international member of the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) at the United States, among ten new international members elected by the current membership during its annual meeting.

Election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine, and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and commitment to community service.
Commenting on the occasion, President of the National Academy of Medicine Dr. Victor Dzau said that this distinguished and diverse class of new members is a truly remarkable set of scholars and leaders whose impressive work has advanced science, improved health, and made the world a better place for everyone.
He added that their expertise in science, medicine, health, and policy in the United States and around the globe will help the organizations address today's most pressing health challenges and inform the future of health and healthcare.

Meanwhile, the National Academy of Medicine underlined that the election of HE Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al Kuwari to the prestigious body comes in recognition of her leadership role of Qatar's largest care delivery system, represented in Hamad Medical Corporation, and as Qatar's Minister of Public Health.

Established originally as the Institute of Medicine in 1970 by the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Medicine addresses critical issues in health, science, medicine, and related policy, and inspires positive action across various sectors.
