The regular Cabinet meeting, chaired by HE the Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, on Wednesday approved a draft decree allocating land to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) for the establishment of an electricity and water production plant.
Following the meeting, held at the Amiri Diwan, HE the Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi stated the following:
The Cabinet reviewed topics on its meeting's agenda as following:
The Cabinet took the necessary measures to ratify the Maritime Transport Agreement between the governments of Qatar and Cote d'Ivoire.
The Cabinet also reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:
1-The letter of HE the Minister of Transport and Communications on the proposal of Transport Company (Karwa) regarding the amendment of the terms and conditions of the concession contract for the management and operation of taxis signed between the company and the four franchise companies.
2-The letter of HE Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs on the results of the study prepared by the Ministry in co-ordination with the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Cabinet's General Secretariat on identifying procedures and controls necessary to send and transmit government correspondences.
3- The Results of the third session of the Joint Qatari-Tajik Economic, Commercial and Technical Co-operation Committee.
4- The letter of the Ministry of Transport and Communications on the 2017 annual report of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA). The CRA regulates the Telecommunications and Information Technology sector, Postal sector and access to digital media, with the aim of providing advanced telecommunications services that serve all parts of the State.
The report included the CRA's work programmes, achievements and quest for regulation for the future in order to develop the telecommunications sector and telecommunications infrastructure and to protect the consumer.
5- The proposal by the Ministry of Municipalities and Environment to accede to the Minamata Convention on mercury and the views of some bodies in this regard.
