Qatar Chamber’s contracting committee has held two separate meetings recently to discuss and review methods to protect sub-contractors and other challenges being faced by the industry.
The meetings were chaired by Qatar Chamber board member Mohamed Sultan al-Jaber, who is also the chairman of the committee. Aside from the protection of sub-contractors, the meetings focused on procedures and mechanisms on tenders, and the proposed solutions to industry-related issues.
The committee underscored the importance of finding solutions and working with agencies concerned, and added that these steps would lead to the creation of a strong contracting sector that would contribute to the country’s economic development.
It was also agreed during the meeting that small and medium-sized enterprises shall be part of the committee considering the key role they play in the sector. Al-Gaber said Qatar Chamber “is exerting great efforts” to cooperate with all authorities concerned in Qatar to improve Qatar’s business environment.
He also lauded the speech delivered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the opening of the 47th session of the Advisory Council where His Highness the Amir affirmed the role of the private sector in economic development.
Al-Gaber said the speech stressed on the “swift response” and “close cooperation by all competent authorities in the country with the aim to achieve this objective.”
