The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) will organise Katara 8th Traditional Dhow Festival from November 20 to 24. 
The exhibition will see the participation of nine countries other than hosts Qatar.
Ahmed al-Hitmi, director of beach management at Katara and director of the Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, said that the eighth edition of the exhibition will include a variety of cultural events, maritime competitions, folklore shows and fireworks displays, pointing out that the festival seeks to preserve the country's identity and heritage.
Al-Hitmi added that the organising committee of the festival has opened registration for participation in maritime competitions and heritage shows after expanding its scope. This year the event will see eight maritime competitions, in addition to several heritage shows.
He added that the festival will provide visitors with a unique display of traditional sailing vessels and dhows. The event will be held on Katara beach, where a number of services will be provided for visitors. 
In addition, participating countries will organise a maritime and crafts market showcasing traditional industries such as shipbuilding, ropes, sail and dredging machine, pearl extracting from oyster and others, as well as folklore teams, games and children's workshops.
Katara Traditional Dhow Festival director noted that the festival's cultural cafe will host dialogue sessions for selected maritime heritage researchers and specialists.
