The Sandiganbayan’s Special Third Division upheld its denial of Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes’ plea to let her post bail in a plunder case.
The plunder case is in connection with the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or pork barrel scam. Voting 4-1, the court denied her motion for reconsideration.
Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, who concurrently leads the court’s Third Division, penned the ruling which was concurred by Associate Justices Sarah Jane Fernandez, Oscar Herrera, and Maryann Corpus-Manalac. Associate Justice Bernelito Fernandez dissented.
Reyes is among the accused in the P172mn plunder case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman in 2014 against former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile in connection with the PDAF scam.
She is detained at a Bureau of Jail Management facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig.
