*Sheikh Mohamed hails ties with Turkey

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani on Thursday said security, political and economic challenges facing the Middle East and the world require more co-ordination and consultation to address them.

Speaking at the fourth session of the joint ministerial committee between Qatar and Turkey, Sheikh Mohamed said the two countries share similar views on many international and regional issues.

Turkey's delegation to the meeting was led by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Sheikh Mohamed said it was necessary to step up efforts to establish international security and stability, combat terrorism and settle disputes peacefully.

Sheikh Mohamed hailed the strong ties between Qatar and Turkey in all fields attributing that to the generous support given by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

He said that the relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples should be further strengthened in light of the difficulties and challenges facing the region and the world.

"We reaffirm Qatar's determination to strengthen and develop fruitful co-operation mechanisms through the implementation of the signed agreements and memorandums of understanding and the agreements to be signed during the meeting of the Supreme Joint Committee next month."

HE Sheikh Mohamed said that yesterday's meeting was a preparatory session for the work of the Supreme Joint Committee, which in its previous edition witnessed the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries in various fields that contributed to enhancing bilateral co-operation and establishing a strategic and complementary partnership in various scientific, political, economic, investment, development, cultural fields and others, in order to achieve common interests, while appreciating the outcome of the meetings of senior officials held in Ankara last month.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs said he looked forward to continuing the achievements made at the previous session to promote joint bilateral work that reflects the nature and essence of the strategic relations, hoping that this meeting will be a success.

For his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu affirmed that Qatar and his country have a consensus view on many regional and international issues, describing the relations between the two countries as "very good".

He said the meeting will discuss ways of enhancing and developing bilateral relations as well as preparing for the meeting of the Supreme Joint Committee, adding it will also discuss the mechanisms of implementing the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries and of signing more agreements, in addition to many bilateral, regional and international issues.

The Turkish Foreign Minister praised the depth of relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples, terming the level of relations as a role model.
