Under the patronage of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Police College Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, the college celebrated yesterday the graduates of the first batch of students of Al Saiqa course which was held for two months.
This is the last course in the series of courses for students of the first batch of the Police College, preceded by important courses in the framework of the parallel training programme for the academic study of this batch which is expected to graduate in January.
Adviser to the Minister of Interior and Vice President of the Supreme Council of Police College Dr Abdullah Yusuf al-Maal, said in a statement to media after the graduation ceremony that we are witnessing today the graduation of the first batch of students, which is the last training course in their academic and training studies to get a Bachelor of Law and Police Science by next January.
He pointed out that this course is the last course in the training programme for students of the first batch of the Police College, preceded by important courses, including diving and parachute jumping, as well as academic study over four years, adding that now they are preparing for the grand graduation ceremony for the first batch of Police College in January.
He pointed out that the course is unique at the level of police colleges in the Middle East. Brigadier Dr Muhammad Abdullah al-Mohanna al-Marri, Director General of Police College, said that the Ministry of Interior began to reap the benefits of efforts made over four full years after the students completed eight academic classes and strong military training in the stages of the integrated construction of their personality and preparing them for physical, psychological and academic preparation according to the latest methods.
He added that the course is one of the approved courses for students of the Police College, which is one of the specialised and basic courses that the college is keen to implement for its students. This is because of its importance in raising the level of training and physical level of students and providing them more military and training skills, and to identify the outputs of the security work and to give candidates more self confidence.
Director of the Training Department at the Police College Major Fahad Saeed al-Subaie said that since its inception, the college has pursued a unique course in training, drawing on the best international experiences in similar colleges, adding innovative systems and programmes, and focusing on meticulous implementation in the field. He explained that as part of the pursuit of the best training strategies, the Police College has adopted three specialised training programmes: diving, parachute jumping and Al Saiqa, and the college is the first in the region to offer these programmes that require high fitness and stamina, mental and decision-making ability.
Major al-Subaie expressed confidence that this batch, which completed all academic and training programmes at the college and is preparing for graduation in January 2019, will be a model for excellence, leadership, discipline and the ability to progress.
