The Doha Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducted its fifth International Conference with the theme ‘Sustainability and Growth in the Digital Era’ in Doha recently.
The event was attended by more than 300 delegates, who hold various leading positions in top business units and enterprises in Qatar, India and other GCC countries.
For the year 2018, chartered accountant (CA) Hatim Hussain bagged the CA Dilip Thakker CA Professional Achiever Award. The award, instituted by Thakker, first chairman of the Doha Chapter of the ICAI, recognises an Indian chartered accountant residing in Qatar for exceptional contribution in the accounting/finance profession to industry, the profession and community at large.
The purpose is to motivate CAs to aspire, work and contribute to becoming exemplary CA Professional Achievers, according to a press statement.
Hussain was given the award for his outstanding performance by Ashraf Abu Issa, chairman of Abu Issa Holding, who was the chief guest at the event.
Other guests of honour were CA Sripriya Kumar, ICAI Central Council, and Asim Mirza, director — Client Affairs at Qatar Financial Centre.
The conference had distinguished speakers who covered the topics such as forensic audit, IFRS, robotics, business valuation entrepreneurship tips and mental wellness.
Sheikha Athba al-Thani shared her views on how digitisation could bring the sustainability in Qatar.
Hussain holds an MBA (Executive) from Harvard Business School as well as many certifications from various organisations. Hussain was the chairman of the Doha Chapter of ICAI for the year 2015 and a pioneer in organising the first International Conference in Doha. He contributes to the activities of the chapter in the form of sponsorships and recruitment of CAs. “The chartered accountant fraternity is proud of CA Hatim Hussain,” the statement adds.
