Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced this year’s winners of the Qatar Sustainability Awards at a gala dinner sponsored by Tadmur Holding. Featuring 26 categories, including schools, universities, businesses, not-for-profit entities, and government agencies, as well as special awards, the third edition of the annual ceremony was held at the City Centre Rotana Hotel.
Coinciding with the opening of Qatar Sustainability Week 2018, the ceremony publicly recognised individuals, institutions, and organisations whose dedicated efforts have contributed to a greener lifestyle, sustainable development, and environmental protection both in Qatar and internationally.
Meshal al-Shamari, director, QGBC, said, “The various communities of Qatar bring huge energy and commitment to their sustainability projects, and their successes can inspire everyone. It’s a great pleasure for us to acknowledge 2018’s outstanding achievements, which in turn will help to inspire and raise wider awareness about the importance of sustainability.
“We encourage all organisations, communities, and individuals to help work towards achieving Qatar’s sustainable development goals.”
Tadmur Holding CEO, Dafer Hallawa, said,“It is an honour for Tadmur Holding to partner with Qatar Green Building Council on this noble mission of creating a balance between development needs and protecting the environment. We praise QGBC’s endless efforts of supporting and raising awareness and ensuring that green buildings are a fundamental part of all future urban planning.”
“At the core of our philosophy, we firmly believe that it is essential to engage future generations and work towards education and awareness. I would like to specially thank all participants for their innovative projects this year, which have shown tremendous growth and commitment towards our common endeavours,” Hallawa added.
The Qatar Sustainability Awards 2018 entries were judged by expert jury members, including senior sustainability and green building experts, professional practitioners, and academic researchers.
