HE the Director-General of Public Security Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi has underlined that the International Event for Homeland Security and Civil Defence (Milipol Qatar 2018) contributes greatly to the strengthening of the security services in the Middle East, and the modernisation of their systems in the field of civil defence, internal security and combating terrorism.
In press remarks on the sidelines of Milipol Qatar, which opened in Doha yesterday, HE al-Khulaifi said that this year’s edition is even more distinguished with the addition of the civil defence exhibition. Over 219 exhibitors from various Arab and foreign countries, as well as many ministers and security managers from friendly countries are participating.
He stressed that Milipol Qatar is one of the most important exhibitions at the regional level. It enjoys a particular importance not only for Qatar, but also for many countries that are concerned with modernising their security services and systems by acquiring the best of modern technology in the field of internal security services and systems.
He added that Milipol Qatar is an important platform to showcase the latest equipment and devices in the security and civil protection sector, and plays a significant role in developing the capabilities of national companies and opening up wide prospects to strengthen partnerships with international companies specialised in security and safety.
For his part, Chairman of the General Authority of Customs Ahmed bin Abdullah al-Jamal said that Milipol Qatar represents an international platform that carries a Qatari imprint in the field of security industries and exhibitions in the Middle East and North Africa.
Meanwhile, Director of the International Co-operation Department at the Ministry of Interior Major General Engineer Abdulaziz al-Ansari said that the 12th edition of Milipol Qatar is the largest edition since the launch of the exhibition, referring to the remarkable participation, both in terms of official and diplomatic representation from the friendly countries or in terms of the number of participating exhibitors, which underlines the importance of the exhibition as a leading international event in the field of internal security and civil defence at the level of the Middle East.
Chairman of Milipol Qatar Committee Major General Nasser bin Fahad al-Thani said that Milipol Qatar 2018 is a forum for exchanging information and experiences and displaying products, where major national companies and institutions have been keen since its first session on supporting and succeeding the event.
The 12th edition of International Event for Homeland Security and Civil Defence (Milipol Qatar 2018), which covers an area of more than 9,000 square metres, is attended by more than 219 companies from 24 countries around the world.
It also includes five national pavilions for a number of countries: the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France and North America, in addition to new participants from Greece, India, Latvia, Russia, Slovenia and Switzerland, and 90 exhibitors from Qatar.
Three major seminars are scheduled to be held on the sidelines of Milipol Qatar today and tomorrow to discuss specialised security issues including cybersecurity, civil defence, and security management of major events.
