The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has concluded a workshop on the rules of origin, which came within the framework of the efforts of the MEC to build the technical capacities of economists and officials in the field of international co-operation and trade agreements in state institutions, to develop their skills in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations and bilateral agreements and to prepare them to understand all aspects of the rules of origin in the WTO. The officials from the MEC, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the General Customs Authority and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated in the workshop, which dealt with all the aspects related to the rules of origin in the WTO in terms of definition and importance as well as the impact on international trade and investment.
