The new openings on Rayyan Road as part of the upgrade projects are expected to bring a significant improvement in the traffic flow in the area.

Journey time would be slashed in half, especially between Al Furousiya Street and Al-Hawar Street, leading to Al Gharafa Road and Khalifa Avenue, where a number of traffic detours will be cancelled.

The openings have served many areas, especially Al Rayyan, Al-Luqta, Al-Gharafa, Mreikh, Fareej Al-Amir, in addition to Education City and Aspire Zone.

Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project (Phase II):

The project includes the development of the road from the west of the Olympic Intersection to the west of Khalid Bin Abdullah Al-Attiya Intersection (New Rayyan Roundabout), the project will develop a new dual carriageway of 5.5km in four lanes in each direction in addition to developing five main interchanges, a flyover and a tunnel which include the intersection of Al Rayyan Road with Al Furousiya Street.

The three-level intersection will ensure free traffic flow through the tunnel, while the local traffic using the signals at the ground level of the intersection as for Al Huwar Street crossing Al Furousiya Street will have a free flow through the bridge.

The intersection of the Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street with Al Huwar Street:

The two-level intersection will facilitate free traffic flow through the tunnel and Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street on the ground level with traffic signals.

The intersection of Al Rayyan Road with Al Bustan Street: The three-level intersection will allow free flow of traffic on Al Rayyan Road through the tunnel while the local traffic flow will be at the ground level and controlled by the traffic signals

The intersection of Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street with Al Bustan Street:

The two-level intersection will ensure free traffic flow on Al Bustan Street through the tunnel. The traffic on the Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street will be on the ground level and co-ordinated by the traffic lights.

The intersection of Al-Rayyan Road and 22 February Street:

The four-level intersection replaces the earlier one. A new bridge will be constructed with the support of two structures to accommodate the traffic from the north on 22 February Street. Traffic from the west will be on Al-Rayyan Road.

Al Mesila Tunnel: The two-level intersection will have traffic at the ground level on Al-Rayyan Road. As for the traffic on Jassim Bin Hamad Street, the tunnel connects the eastern side of Al-Rayyan Road directly.

Al-Rayyan Bridge: A one-way bridge of two corridors will contribute to the free flow of traffic from Al Waab towards the new Al Rayyan Street, thus relieving pressure on Al Rayyan Roundabout.

The second project of the Al Rayyan Road Construction and Development Project involves the implementation of extensive works to establish and upgrade the infrastructure of the area.

The project includes installation of 31km of treated sewage lines for irrigation of green spaces,40 km of storm water drainage network, 32km of drinking water pipes and the installation of a 15km sewage network.
