The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) has called on all citizens and residents aged 6 months and older and people who are most vulnerable to complications of influenza to receive seasonal flu vaccine.

In this regard, the Ministry recommended that people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, heart and lung disease, kidney disease, spleen and cancer patients, the elderly (over the age of 65), children between the ages of 6 months and five years, pregnant women and health workers should get vaccinated

The ministry said that 20,879 people from all age groups were vaccinated for seasonal flu until Sunday, a week since the joint vaccination campaign launched in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation under the slogan "Stop the Flu". The campaign will continue until next April.

The ministry also stressed the importance of the initiative to receive seasonal influenza vaccine to help prevent the complications resulting from influenza, especially in populations with high risk factors.

The ministry added that vaccination is available free of charge to all citizens and residents at all Primary Health Care Centers, as well as in 48 hospitals and private clinics.
