The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), an initiative of Qatar Foundation, recently participated in the 17th Summit of Francophonie, held under the theme ‘Living together in solidarity, sharing humanistic values and respect for diversity: a source of peace and prosperity for the French-speaking world,’ in Yerevan, Armenia.
Elyas Felfoul, director, Policy and Partnerships, WISE, who participated in a panel discussion on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, said, “The future of work cannot be addressed without including education as a main component for driving progress and inclusion, especially in a time of fast-paced change and uncertainty. It is precisely in these kinds of international and multidisciplinary forums, such as the Summit of Francophonie, where we believe education challenges and opportunities can be addressed with action.”
The session explored how education – which has been placed on the list of priorities by Armenia – prepares people for the future of work in the face of the fourth industrial revolution. Discussions also included how such efforts can be targeted to ensure more inclusion in a changing and modern economy.
The goal of the Francophonie is to promote the French language and the cultural diversity and universal values of peace, democracy and human rights. It also aims to promote this through the importance of education, research, and sustainable development.
