* Schools:
Normal academic day except for some schools
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has said today will be a regular academic day in accordance with the academic calendar for 2018-2019 as there will be no suspension of studies in schools, QNA reports.
The ministry, however, explained that a number of schools would not be able to receive students today so that the task forces concerned could to carry out the necessary repair works and address the damage caused by yesterday’s rain.
Parents were informed of this decision, the ministry said.
The ministry also called on the public not to pay attention to rumours and false news about the suspension of studies on Sunday, which were officially denied.
The ministry advised them to receive information from official sources and sites.
* Qatar Foundation:
The Qatar Foundation (QF) headquarters, all QF centres and all entities at Education City will be closed today in view of the inclement weather, it has been announced.
The announcement was made through a series of posts on the Twitter page of QF yesterday.
“Due to the severe weather, QF HQ and all QF centres and entities at Education City will be closed tomorrow (Sunday),” one of the posts said. “Having assessed the impact of heavy rain on roads in Doha, we’ve taken this decision to ensure the safety of all members of our community, which is our top priority,” it continued.
All staff members have been informed of this temporary closure of facilities, and QF will provide further updates as soon as possible, another post said. “We continue to advise our staff and students not to make road journeys until conditions improve.”
The staff will work remotely where possible on Sunday to support QF’s business continuity, and “we thank them for their commitment,” QF added.
* Sidra Medicine:
The Outpatient Clinic at Sidra Medicine will be closed for appointments today, excluding Paediatric Infusion and Hematology Oncology, Sidra Medicine has said. Patients will be alerted via SMS. Those with queries can call 4003 3333. Children’s Emergency and Urgent Care and the main hospital building will remain open.
* US embassy:
All Consular services and ACS appointments are cancelled for today due to the mission’s closure, the US embassy has said. ACS appointment holders can visit the embassy tomorrow at their previously scheduled time.

Abu Hamour receives 84mm of rain
Abu Hamour topped the rain charts in the country yesterday as it received 84mm of rain, which is considered the highest ever daily rainfall amount recorded within Doha city areas during the month of October, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said. In addition, 31mm was recorded in Ras Laffan and 23mm in Al Khor, the CAA added.
