The 139th assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) announced that it will hold its 140th session in Qatar from April 6 to 10 next year.
HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud welcomed the decision in his speech at the closing session in Geneva on Thursday.
He urged speakers and delegations of the world parliaments to take part in the event and learn about the great developments witnessed by Qatar under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and to see the good and noble people of Qatar and their love for peace, stability and good for all. He affirmed Qatar's full readiness and confidence in the success of the conference in Doha for the good of countries and peoples.
