As many as five Al Shaqab horses topped their respective classes at the Morocco International Horse Show, part of the Salon du Cheval, which is being held under the patronage of King Mohamed VI of Morocco.
Hagras Al Shaqab topped the class for two-year-old colts, earning the highest score from the judges and qualifying for the championship round.
The prize distribution ceremony for the class saw the presence of Al Shaqab’s Breeding and Show manager Sheikh Hamad bin Ali al-Thani, Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) Board member Khalid bin Mohamed al-Ali and QREC Racing manager Abdulla bin Rashid al-Kubaisi.
Hagras Al Shaqab’s class victory was fifth on the first two days of the show.
Earlier in the competition, four Al Shaqab fillies impressed in their respective classes. Galliba Al Shaqab tallied 460 points in the Yearling Fillies class. Alsba Al Shaqab topped the class for two-year-old fillies, while Um Gariba Al Shaqab won the class for three-year-old fillies. Aaida Al Shaqab emerged on top in the class for four to six-year-old fillies.
‘Qatar’s success is goal at Salon’
QREC Board member al-Ali stressed on the valuable benefits of the Qatari participation at the Salon du Cheval d’El Jadida, including exposure to participants from as many as 28 countries, and the huge turnout at the week-long event.
“There is always something new every year reflecting the Moroccan desire for continuous development,” al-Ali said. “QREC’s platinum sponsorship of this year’s edition has been key to fostering the Qatari participation by QREC, Qatar Equestrian and Modern Pentathlon Federation, and Al Shaqab. We all work under one umbrella and Qatar’s success is our goal behind this participation. We have achieved the goal we came here for, especially with the Ministry of Culture and Sports’ keenness to support QREC’s participation at the Salon every year.”
