QIIB has been awarded the ‘Trade Finance Excellence Award 2018’ from Commerzbank-Germany, based on the volume and quality of their joint business and the bank’s high professionalism in trade, particularly the quality of its letters of credit related transactions.
QIIB deputy CEO Jamal Abdulla al-Jamal, received the award from Andreas Scheer, head (Loan Capital Markets) FI Frankfurt, during a ceremony held at QIIB Headquarters on the Grand Hamad Street in Doha.
Also present were Georges Hobeika, chief operating officer; Mohamed Ghayat Sheikha, investment manager and Asim Mahmood, chief operations officer. 
The ceremony was also attended by Nils Neudorfer, senior relations manager at Commerzbank and Michael Benner, senior relationship manager (Financial Institutions) and head, FI Desk, Dubai Branch.
Al-Jamal said, “We are delighted to have strong relations with an esteemed institution as Commerzbank, one of Germany’s leading banks, whose operations and services enjoy high global credibility.
“QIIB gives priority and great attention to training and qualification programmes for employees on the use of the latest banking technologies and programmes in line with the latest globally-adopted banking systems.”
He expressed confidence that “the close relationship between QIIB and Commerzbank will continue and will be further enhanced as there is a common desire to do so. We hope that the clients of both the banks will benefit from the relationship, which will lead to the provision of high quality services that serve their needs and aspirations”.
On his part, Scheer said, “We look forward to strengthening our relations with QIIB. We have seen, through our dealings with the bank that the standards they have adopted in the field of trade finance are in line with the best international standards. We thank the bank’s management and employees for their efforts”.
He added, “We have been partners with QIIB for many years, and we are aware of the Bank’s commitment to the highest banking standards in its dealings. We are confident that QIIB and Commerzbank will continue in their partnership so as to enhance co-operation in their various banking operations.”
