As part of the Years of Culture programme, Qatar Museums (QM) presented an exclusive fashion show and jewellery exhibition at Russia’s largest museum of photography and multimedia. The show, titled 'Qatari Seasons', was hosted for the first time in Moscow at the Multimedia Art Museum and introduced audiences to modern Qatari designers.
The high-profile event was attended by several VIP guests from Qatar and Russia, including Qatar ambassador to Russia Fahad bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, gallerist and artist Aidan Salakhova, designer Olga Tompson, Tretyakov Gallery director Zelfira Tregulova, and Olympic champion Anzhelika Timanina, among others.
Participating Qatari fashion designers included Wadha al-Hajri, who showcased a demi-couture collection of her brand specially created for the event, Waad Mohammed, creator of fashion brand Waad and Qatari jewellery brand, Noudar. On the next day after the event at Multimedia Art Museum, special pop-up project with collections of Noudar, Waad and Wadha brands was presented at Tsum – the main Moscow department store.
The event comes as part of QM’s commitment to nurture emerging talent by providing local and international platforms of expression.
As an extension to Qatari Seasons, the Fire Station in Doha will present an exhibition by internationally acclaimed fashion designer Vika Gazinskaya, titled 'Russian Seasons'.
The exhibition will celebrate contemporary Russian fashion design. Curated by Frol Burimskiy, it will be open from Tuesday to October 23.
Qatar Russia 2018 is part of the Years of Culture initiative developed under the guidance of QM’s chairperson HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani in 2012. It is designed to deepen understanding between nations and their people through mutual exchanges of arts, culture and heritage. Such initiative also provides tangible opportunities to build sustainable links and co-operation between creative members of Qatari and Russian society and foster continuous collaboration.
