To celebrate the recent announcement that Ooredoo fibre is now available across all new homes in Lusail, Ooredoo has announced that it will roll out first-in-class fibre home devices to Lusail to ensure Qatar’s first smart city is fully-connected.

To accommodate Lusail City’s groundbreaking smart city plans, Ooredoo will provide a Netgear Orbi Hub device that uses the latest technology in terms of Tri-Band Wi-Fi and provides Wi-Fi coverage of up to 200sq m to all Ooredoo fibre customers in Lusail.
Ooredoo is planning to introduce Netgear Nighthawk AX12, a 12-stream Wi-Fi router based on 802.11ax Wi-Fi technology to its customers. This makes Ooredoo the first service provider in the Emea region to commercially deploy AX routers.
Nighthawk AX12 offers Gigabit Internet up to 6Gbps Wi-Fi speeds and WPA3, the latest Wi-Fi security standard designed for enhanced security in public and private networks. An ultra-fast 2.2GHz quad-core processor ensures speed and performance for more Wi-Fi devices and high-speed applications.
Furthermore, Ooredoo is partnering with Netgear to bring AX Wi-Fi based Orbi to customers in the future. Orbi AX will support bandwidth-hungry applications, such as 4K video streaming to multiple devices simultaneously, and will accommodate to hard-core gamers.
Ooredoo COO Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi said: “Ooredoo fibre will play a key part in connecting residents and visitors to smart technology, as well as ensure world-class entertainment is available in all homes in Lusail.
“We’re offering the latest Orbi Hub technology to Lusail to enable everyone in the area to enjoy the life-changing speeds Ooredoo fibre offers and make the most out of the new technology on offer.”
“Netgear is excited to partner with Ooredoo to offer the best-in-class and most advanced 12-Stream AX Wi-Fi router,” said David Henry, SVP Connected Home Products at Netgear.
“The next generation AX Wi-Fi technology complements Ooredoo’s high performance Gigabit Fibre Internet service for Lusail’s commercial customers to provide them un-paralleled Wi-Fi speeds and coverage throughout the premises.”
Ooredoo’s fibre home plans were designed to cater to the increasing bandwidth speed and entertainment needs of Ooredoo customers and include a free Ooredoo tv subscription, free Starz Play access, which offers more than 6,500 hours of content, and an inclusive beIN full package subscription for anyone subscribing to the 30Mbps or above fibre home plans that offer live and exclusive sports channels, as well as kids and lifestyle channels, and the latest movies.
The Orbi Wi-Fi hub is priced at QR35 per month for 24 months and is available on all new fibre broadband plans across Qatar. Customers can upgrade their speeds at any time by visiting the Ooredoo App or any Ooredoo Shop.
