Qatar University (QU) has maintained its position among the top 500 universities in the world in the recent Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2019.

QU has been ranked in the range of 401-500 most highly ranked universities for 2019. In this edition, QU continues to be ranked Number One in the International Outlook indicator in the overall Times Higher Education World University Rankings list for the fourth time in a row.
This achievement consolidates QU’s recent results in rankings as the institution has been ranked #332 in the QS World University Rankings 2019 and #36 in the QS Top 50 under 50 ranking among the best young universities in the world.
THE World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that judge research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, citation, industry income and international outlook. They use 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons, trusted by students, academics, university leaders, industry and governments.
QU president Dr Hassan al-Derham said, “We have enormous pride in how QU is continuously improving on the international scene. With a new strategy launched this year, we have positioned the University as a powerhouse of intellectual and academic achievement, without losing sight of the pastoral and nurturing care of our students and colleagues. We look forward to strengthening the role of Qatar University in the international scene.”
THE Rankings editor Phil Baty said: “It is great to see Qatar retaining its status as the world number-one university for “international outlook” in the 2019 World University Rankings. Qatar as a nation has been under serious geo-political pressure regionally, so it is positive to see its flagship university remains resilient, and focused on the positive power of internationalism in global higher education. Indeed, such is Qatar University’s commitment to internationalisation, it is hosting THE’s Emerging Economies Summit in 2019 – bringing together university leaders from across five continents.”
