Qatar Chamber will soon launch an interactive electronic platform aimed at develop the country’s services sector in Qatar, board member Ali Abdullatif al-Misnad announced during a meeting held in Doha yesterday.
Al-Misnad, who is the chairman of Qatar Chamber’s Services Sector Committee, said the e-portal will enable businessmen to communicate with the committee and offer their suggestions, proposals, and ideas that could contribute to the development of services sector in the country.
“This portal is an initiative by Qatar Chamber to help enhance the role of the services sector in the national economy,” al-Misnad said, adding that the e-portal will be available soon on https://qatarchamber.com/.
Yesterday’s meeting mainly revolved on the restructuring of the Services Sector Committee, according to al-Misnad.
It was attended by executive representatives from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment; Ministry of Interior; Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs; Ministry of Transport and Communications; Ministry of Economy and Commerce; Public Authority of Customs; Qatar Ports Management Company – Mwani Qatar; and other private sector stakeholders.
“The committee comprises all bodies that are concerned with developing the services sector of the country. The committee’s mandate is to study and discuss all issues related to the services sector, as well as to seek the development of the sector, in line with the economic development Qatar is witnessing under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani,” al-Misnad said.
He noted that the Services Sector Committee aims to follow-up the implementation of strategic plans prepared by the government for the services sector, review, activate the laws and legislation, and make appropriate recommendations to the authorities concerned.
It also aims to study the challenges that reduce the sector’s contribution to GDP and find appropriate solutions to obstacles faced by representatives of the private sector, as well as attend or hold seminars, conferences, and workshops, al-Misnad added.
