The Private Engineering Office (PEO) on Tuesday handed over a hospital and a health center in Mesaieed Industrial City to Hamad Medical Corporation, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.

Hamad Medical Corporation will equip the two health facilities to serve the workers in the southern part of the country.

The hospital is part of three hospitals implemented by the Private Engineering Office to enhance the health sector and serve the health plan in the state. The hospitals also include Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital (HMGH) in the Industrial Area hospital, which the PEO handed over to Hamad Medical Corporation in November 2016, and Ras Laffan Hospital delivered in 2017.

The three hospitals are expected to have significant impact in raising the level of the health service in general, as the new hospitals will absorb patients of the workforce in the areas they serve, thus reducing pressure on hospitals in Doha.

The new hospital in Mesaieed Industrial City is established on an area of 150 thousand square meters, and consists of an underground, ground, first and second floors with a capacity of 126 beds. The total area of the hospital is about 49 thousand square meters.
The capacity of the hospital can be increased to 210 beds when a new building adjacent to the hospital is added if required, according to future plans. The infrastructure has been constructed to accommodate the expected addition in the future.

Commenting on the occasion, Head of the Projects Department at the Private Engineering Office Faisal Abdullah Al Dosari said that the new hospital comes as part of a three hospitals project which took into account a proper geographical distribution to serve different parts of the country - Ras Laffan, Mesaieed and the Industrial Area.

Al Dosari noted that the project includes a main building and a health center with an area of 7200 square meters. The Center provides primary health care, including medical services and a physiotherapy center, in order to reduce pressure on health centers in the vicinity of the Industrial Area.

He added that the hospital's land includes a mosque that can accommodate 400 worshipers and a cafeteria with a total area of about 1,300 square meters to accommodate the high density expected of the workers. The building of the hospital, which was constructed according to the Qatari architectural style, also provides green spaces and parking spaces to accommodate about 570 cars, including nearly 180 covered parking and 21 parking spaces for people with special needs, and corridors and streets linking the hospital buildings.

For his part, Chief of Health Facilities Development at HMC Hamad Al Khalifa said the new modern facility will contribute to the expansion of medical facilities network of in the country, and will provide medical care services for workers near their homes and workplaces.

He noted that the concerned operational teams will begin a long and extensive process to equip the hospital with the required medical equipment and technical staff, and finalize the final arrangements to start the operation process as planned by the Ministry of Public Health.

The new hospital in Mesaieed Industrial City will provide all the specialized medical services that serve the health plan established by the Ministry of Public Health. It has been equipped with a helicopter landing pad to transport the injured and the very urgent cases through what is known as the flying ambulance.
The hospital is expected to receive 30 thousand patients monthly through three main entrances along with an entrance for ambulances, a central kitchen, a central laundry and morgue for the dead.

The emergency building in the hospital occupies an area of 6,000 square meters and has a capacity of 30 beds to deal with emergencies, injuries, burns and accidents. The building also includes special equipped rooms for simple operations.

The hospital, which has been constructed in accordance with the approved standard specifications, especially the construction of green buildings, is part of the State of Qatar 's keenness on providing high quality health services to all segments of society, and within the framework of Qatar  National Vision 2030.
